Intertraff VMM is an AI-powered API for automatic license plate recognition (ALPR/ANPR) and vehicle make, model and color recognition. You send an image and get back the plate number, vehicle details, bounding boxes and confidence scores as structured JSON — usually in about a second.

From one image it returns the license plate text, the vehicle's make and model, its color and category, the country and region of the plate, bounding boxes for both the plate and the vehicle, and a confidence score for each result.

Accuracy is above 99% on clear, well-framed plates. Real-world results depend on image quality — angle, lighting, resolution and motion blur all affect how reliably a plate can be read.

Yes. The Cloud plan is free for up to 300,000 images every month, with no credit card required. You only need to talk to us if you outgrow that volume or want an on-premises deployment.

Intertraff VMM covers 70+ countries through five regional plate models — Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the United States. You select the right one with the GA parameter on each request.

The recognition itself runs in well under a second; a typical end-to-end response, including downloading the image, is one to three seconds and comes back as JSON. Larger images and a higher Input_size take a little longer.

JPG, PNG and WebP are supported. You can pass any publicly reachable image URL, or send the file to our free upload endpoint to get a URL the engine can read.
