Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 June 2026
This policy explains what information Intertraff collects when you use the Intertraff VMM website and license-plate & vehicle recognition API, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
1. Who we are
Intertraff ("Intertraff", "we", "us" or "our") provides Intertraff VMM, an API for automatic license-plate recognition (LPR/ANPR) and vehicle make & model recognition, together with this website. Intertraff is the data controller for the personal data processed through your account and this website. Where you use the API to process images you have collected, you are the controller of that image data and Intertraff acts as your processor on your instructions (see Section 3). You can reach us at privacy@intertraff.ai.
2. Information we collect
- Account & contact data: your name, email address, the hashed credentials and one-time codes used to verify your email, your chosen plan, and the API keys issued to your account.
- Usage & billing data: request counts, image counts against your monthly quota, timestamps and usage snapshots used to enforce limits and power your dashboard.
- Support & sales data: messages you send us through our contact forms or by email.
- Technical data: IP address, browser type and basic request logs generated when you visit the site or call the API, used for security and abuse prevention.
- Cookies & local storage: a session/authentication cookie when you sign in, plus minimal local storage for preferences. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. Images & recognition data
This is the core of the service, so we treat it with particular care:
- When you submit an image URL, we fetch and process that image transiently in memory to detect and read plates and vehicles, and return the result as JSON. We do not retain the source image after the response is produced.
- When you use our optional upload helper endpoint to host an image, it is stored only to make it reachable by URL and is automatically deleted within 24 hours.
- Recognition output (plate text, make/model, bounding boxes and confidence) is returned to you and is not retained by us beyond transient processing and short-term request logging.
- License-plate data can constitute personal data under laws such as the GDPR. Where you supply images, you are responsible for having a lawful basis to collect and submit them; we process them only on your instructions to provide the service.
- We do not use customer images to train our models without your explicit consent.
- On-Premises deployments: if you run the engine inside your own infrastructure, images and recognition data never leave your environment and are not transmitted to Intertraff.
4. How we use information
We use the information above to:
- provide, operate and secure the service and your account;
- issue and manage API keys and enforce plan quotas;
- respond to your support and sales enquiries;
- monitor for abuse, fraud and security incidents;
- maintain and improve the reliability and performance of the service;
- comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
Where the GDPR or similar law applies, we rely on:
- Performance of a contract: to provide the service you signed up for;
- Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse and improve our product, balanced against your rights and freedoms;
- Consent: where we ask for it (for example, optional communications), which you can withdraw at any time;
- Legal obligation: to meet regulatory, tax and accounting requirements.
For images you submit, you are the controller and are responsible for establishing the lawful basis for that processing.
6. How we share information
We share personal data only with:
- Service providers (sub-processors) who host and operate our infrastructure under contract and on our instructions;
- Professional advisers where reasonably necessary;
- Authorities or other parties where required by law or to protect our rights, our users or the public.
We require our sub-processors to apply appropriate safeguards. A current list is available on request at privacy@intertraff.ai.
7. Data retention
We keep account and usage data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the service, then for a limited period afterwards to meet legal, accounting and security obligations. Uploaded images are deleted within 24 hours. Source images submitted by URL are not retained after processing. Request logs are kept for a short period for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or anonymised.
8. International transfers
We operate our own infrastructure and aim to process data within the region where it is hosted. Where personal data is transferred across borders, for example to a sub-processor, we put appropriate safeguards in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, where required.
9. Security
We protect data with measures appropriate to its sensitivity, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed credentials, access controls, scoped API keys you can rotate, and processing images transiently rather than storing them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority. To exercise any right, email privacy@intertraff.ai and we will respond within the time required by applicable law. If your request concerns images you submitted as a controller, please direct data-subject requests to the organisation that collected them.
11. Cookies
We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies, chiefly an authentication cookie that keeps you signed in, and minimal local storage for preferences. These are required for the site to function and are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of the dashboard may stop working.
12. Children's privacy
The service is intended for businesses and developers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes we will revise the "last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Continued use of the service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
14. Contact us
